If you already have some weaving skills, this is a great opportunity to develop them with new techniques and forms.

rush basketry at One The Square with Ruby Taylor

Rush is a gorgeous material to work with as it’s easy on the hands and quite forgiving. And it’s amazingly versatile- you can make so many different basketry items with it. If you’re a beginner, this is a particularly good plant to weave with. It has a long tradition in this country as a valued basketry material, especially well known for being used for rush matting.

The course is made up of three sessions which will give you time to get stuck into the weaving and enjoy the rhythm of it (and gain some proficiency if you’re new). You’ll produce at least one item take home with you, but you may well be able to make a couple of things over the three evenings.

Spaces are limited to 10 participants, so advance booking is essential. Suitable for all levels, including beginners.
