Come and make a foraging basket using true English rush (Schoenoplectus lacustris). These beautiful, tactile baskets hang across the body and are perfect for foraging berries, nuts, small  mushrooms etc… or just for carrying things in. English rush is a delightful material to work with, a native plant with a long history of use in basket making.

Rush is a great to weave with as it’s easy on the hands and quite forgiving. And it’s amazingly versatile- you can make so many different basketry items with it. If you’re a beginner, this is a particularly good plant to weave with.

The course is made up of two sessions which will give you time to get stuck into the weaving and enjoy the rhythm of it (and gain some proficiency if you’re new). Those with previous experience will be able to develop and consolidate existing skills.

Spaces are limited to 10 participants, so advance booking is essential. Suitable for all levels, including beginners.
